enegagement story

Our engagement story shared by my wonderful fiancé! Hope you guys enjoy our story & pictures!

Beep beep beep! The sound of the alarm wakes me up! “Oh no, I’m late!” I hurriedly get ready and leave the house as the sun rises. I need to drop off the package before I get to work in the morning… I make it just in time!

This is the surprise video I filmed and edited with a friend a week before the actual proposal. I wanted to use this video as a precursor to the actual proposal. On August 15, 2013 my now fiancé, Sunny woke up on a regular Thursday morning thinking that she would meet up some of her friends for lunch. What she didn’t know was that it would be the start of a series of events that will lead up to the actual proposal. Sunny got ready early in the morning and waited for her friend to pick her up and head to her favorite tea lounge, Tranquil. When she arrived, Sunny was greeted by another one of her friends who already had a table reserved.  It was like any normal lunch with her friends, but as the waiter brought out the check, she was given an Ipad with my pre-recorded video. This video showed that I dropped off a “package” at her house in the morning. Surprised and nervous, Sunny and her friends leave the lounge to head home to see what the package was all about. All this time, Sunny thought I was at work..

[Meanwhile] A friend was at Sunny’s house, setting up the package on top of a beach towel decorated with sand and shells. The package consisted of a poem that I wrote, a wooden key, and an envelope. Sunny arrived at her house and was greeted by the package in front of her doorstep. She still had no clue what was going on. Confused and puzzled she approached the package to find a framed poem, telling her to come find me in Hawaii. (Sunny always mentioned in the past that she wanted to go to Hawaii and I wanted to make that dream come true!) Inside the envelope she found a plane ticket to Kona, Hawaii. Also, the key was ultimately going to open up a treasure chest that I had with me which held her ring. To prepare the proposal in Hawaii, I flew 5 hours earlier to plan and get ready before Sunny arrived. Lava Lava Beach Club located at Anaeho'omalu Bay in Waikoloa Beach Resort was where I set up the proposal. I laid out a large beach towel and 4 Tiki torches on a secluded area of the beach next to the water. We aligned a row of roses to make a walkway leading up to the location. Candles and seashells were set up surrounding the treasure chest that held her engagement ring. It was time to wait for her arrival.

Sunny landed in the evening and was picked up by one of her good friends. She was immediately blindfolded and taken to the car. Hand in hand she was led to the proposal location and was then un-blindfolded. Nervous and excited she walked up to meet my embrace. The keys were used to open up the treasure chest that held her ring and I asked her to be my wife. She said, “Yes!”  Soon after, I showed her a second video I prepared in advance of all her friends and family congratulating us on that momentous day! We ended the night by eating a delicious meal with loving friends on the sands overlooking the moonlit waters in Hawaii.

It’s been an amazing 8 years since the first time I met the love of my life. It’s been 8 years too long.. On August 15, 2013 Sunny and I started a new and exciting journey and we couldn’t be any happier!
