wedding invites

One thing I really enjoyed during the wedding process was choosing our wedding invitations! From all the invitations that I looked at, I fell in love with Rifle Paper Co.’s wedding invitations. I love how each invitation is personalized and shows the unique features of the couple. Feeling inspired, I asked my talented friend Dianuh from Chasing Linens to create our wedding invitation. I'm so excited to share the progress of our wedding invitations with you all! But for now, here’s a couple of my favorites from Rifle Paper Co.

words

Recently, I subscribed to daily readings from Ransomed Heart and today's reading spoke so powerfully to me. Learning to trust in God wholeheartedly is an everyday struggle. But this sweet reminder, "he is faithful and true” gives me so much comfort to rely on him even in the midst of my shortcomings. Hope this reading blesses you as much as it blessed me.

"Our life of faith is uncertain, but we can be expectant of good. Because we belong to God, we can rest in knowing his promises to us are true and he is faithful. It’s not a question of if God is going to show up but how and when. It is not a question of if he is going to move on our behalf but how he will. It isn’t even a question of if he is going to continue pursuing and wooing us deeper into his heart filled with affection for us but if we will recognize him. We can live with joyful uncertainty and expectancy.
There are no ifs with God.

The only ifs relate to us.
If we trust him.

If we believe him.

If we ask him.
If we continue to ask him."

Anyone know who made this lovely piece? I'd love to link it back to the artist. Thanks in advance!

save the dates

David and I used Sage Event Planning's wedding checklist to help guide us through our wedding process. According to the timeline, we were a tad bit behind on everything hahah. With a time crunch on our hand, we decided to use Paperless Post's  free save the dates! It's very user friendly and comes with an AMAZING tracking tool! If you have a tight budget and don't have much time on your hands, give this website a try! Here are some of the templates we liked. Which one is your favorite? We decided on the second one :)

Special thanks to our dear friend Arthur for taking these pictures of us!

venue + dress

If you guys follow me on instagram, I posted a happy picture of my fiance and I! After months of searching for a venue, we finally found the perfect one that we fell in love with and a wedding dress that I adore! Our ceremony and reception will take place at Crossline Community Church in Laguna Hills. The chapel is very modernized, and is covered in brick and wood; my absolute favorite! It's nestled next to a beautiful lake. If you guys are in need of a church, you should definitely check out this church! We will share our experiences along the way!

enegagement story

Our engagement story shared by my wonderful fiancĂ©! Hope you guys enjoy our story & pictures!

Beep beep beep! The sound of the alarm wakes me up! “Oh no, I’m late!” I hurriedly get ready and leave the house as the sun rises. I need to drop off the package before I get to work in the morning… I make it just in time!

This is the surprise video I filmed and edited with a friend a week before the actual proposal. I wanted to use this video as a precursor to the actual proposal. On August 15, 2013 my now fiancĂ©, Sunny woke up on a regular Thursday morning thinking that she would meet up some of her friends for lunch. What she didn’t know was that it would be the start of a series of events that will lead up to the actual proposal. Sunny got ready early in the morning and waited for her friend to pick her up and head to her favorite tea lounge, Tranquil. When she arrived, Sunny was greeted by another one of her friends who already had a table reserved.  It was like any normal lunch with her friends, but as the waiter brought out the check, she was given an Ipad with my pre-recorded video. This video showed that I dropped off a “package” at her house in the morning. Surprised and nervous, Sunny and her friends leave the lounge to head home to see what the package was all about. All this time, Sunny thought I was at work..

[Meanwhile] A friend was at Sunny’s house, setting up the package on top of a beach towel decorated with sand and shells. The package consisted of a poem that I wrote, a wooden key, and an envelope. Sunny arrived at her house and was greeted by the package in front of her doorstep. She still had no clue what was going on. Confused and puzzled she approached the package to find a framed poem, telling her to come find me in Hawaii. (Sunny always mentioned in the past that she wanted to go to Hawaii and I wanted to make that dream come true!) Inside the envelope she found a plane ticket to Kona, Hawaii. Also, the key was ultimately going to open up a treasure chest that I had with me which held her ring. To prepare the proposal in Hawaii, I flew 5 hours earlier to plan and get ready before Sunny arrived. Lava Lava Beach Club located at Anaeho'omalu Bay in Waikoloa Beach Resort was where I set up the proposal. I laid out a large beach towel and 4 Tiki torches on a secluded area of the beach next to the water. We aligned a row of roses to make a walkway leading up to the location. Candles and seashells were set up surrounding the treasure chest that held her engagement ring. It was time to wait for her arrival.

Sunny landed in the evening and was picked up by one of her good friends. She was immediately blindfolded and taken to the car. Hand in hand she was led to the proposal location and was then un-blindfolded. Nervous and excited she walked up to meet my embrace. The keys were used to open up the treasure chest that held her ring and I asked her to be my wife. She said, “Yes!”  Soon after, I showed her a second video I prepared in advance of all her friends and family congratulating us on that momentous day! We ended the night by eating a delicious meal with loving friends on the sands overlooking the moonlit waters in Hawaii.

It’s been an amazing 8 years since the first time I met the love of my life. It’s been 8 years too long.. On August 15, 2013 Sunny and I started a new and exciting journey and we couldn’t be any happier!

weekend recap

Couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit my brother in Redding, CA during my winter break. My younger brother attends the Supernatural School of Ministry at Bethel. I had the great opportunity to sit in during several of his classes. It was so nice to be away for a bit, knowing that I didn't have a set agenda for the week. There's something so amazing when you step back from your current surrounding to go into a place of resting in his bosom. It's so crazy how you can hear God's voice so clearly. The entire week, I was able to spend time with my brother and just enjoy God’s presence. Something that stuck out to me was that my brother had an amazing community that surrounded him with love and friendship. It gave me so much peace knowing that he is well taken care of. One thing I want to share with you that gives me so much hope is that "God is always one step ahead." No matter where you are in your life, trust that He is a good God and He always knows your thoughts, needs, and wants before you even know them. Have a blessed one!

Warmly,
Sunny
